Comfort Women Decry Prime Minister’s CommentsThe Women’s Initiatives for Gender Justice joins surviving “comfort women” in denouncing Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s recent comments claiming over 200,000 women sexually enslaved by the Japanese Imperial Army from 1932 to 1945 had not been coerced into sexual slavery by the former Japanese Army.

Democratic Republic of the CongoBackground on the DRC case On March 6, 2007, the Presidency of the ICC constituted Trial Chamber I in the Lubanga case as follows: Judge Elizabeth Odio Benito, Judge René Blattmann and Judge Adrian Fulford. The Presidency also decided to suspend the transmission of the record of proceedings of Pre-Trial Chamber I to Trial Chamber I until new Defence Counsel is assigned to Mr. Lubanga and it is determined that he or she has had adequate time to familiarise him or herself with the case.
